Synopsis
We started working on this project in 2023 for the festival La Lira di Orfeo in Lodi. The creation was guided by Giulia Sarah Gibbon, who had directed movements for opera while working with theatre director Serena Sinigaglia in Switzerland, Germany and France. Her intuition was to concentrate on the characters of the sorceresses and witches who play a part in works by Cavalli, Händel and Purcell. The result brings Circus arts, Dance and Theatre together as three women physically tell their tales and relate to one another, discovering their inner-selves at the same time.
Running time approx 35 minutes.
The performance contains aerial dance; if this part is required, the company can bring their own structure, which needs 2,5 x 2,5 m on level ground and 4,5m height, or can work with a local rigging point at least 5 m high. Stilts can be used at a minimum height of 3,5 m. Dance with fire requires 2,5 m safety distance between the performers and the audience and at least 4 x 4 m performance space. Where this is not possible, the company can perform with other props instead.
Company
Fenice Show Events company was born in 2021, after the lockdowns, and brought together eight female performers, who wanted to work and create something with artistic, but also human value. Each one is unique in her talents, but all are interchangeable in artistic, technical and organization roles. We do, of course, also collaborate with male performers and technicians, but the core of the company is strongly female.
